Many teenagers and adults grew up to become angry at the fact that they had a flair for something and their talent wasn’t nurtured as a child.
As a parent, you need to be attentive to your child and nurture their interests as opposed to making them act according to society’s standards or limiting them to just the plans you have.
It could be any skill at all, football, writing, speaking, drawing, etc. For the sake of this piece, we’ll talk about writing.
If your child shows a natural talent for writing, these are the signs that you’ll likely see in them.
1. Love to write
The sign that your child has a flair for writing is that they enjoys writing about everything and anything regardless of where and when. As toddlers, you probably caught them writing on the walls, tables, furniture, the floor, or smooth surfaces, books and every other place. This could be a sign that he or she has a natural talent for writing.
2. Enjoys reading
Children are naturally curious, so they’ll look into anything that they see or ask you a lot of questions. However, a distinctive sign that your child has an innate interest in writing is that he or she loves to read books, and it’s even more encouraging for them when you read to them. They are the ones who don’t want to go to bed without reading or being read to.
They are the ones who can’t eat or stay a minute without having a book beside them. If the world is burning, they might catch on late because they have a book that has stolen their attention. This attitude could make them introverted because they prefer the company of their books to that of someone else.
3. Unapologetically curious and observant
You remember that it was mentioned in the previous point that children are curious. They pay attention to details and it’s sometimes going to be hard to deceive them because their eyes and other senses are quick to pick things up, events around them, etc.
They ask questions without holding back. Children also don’t take things as they are, they always want to investigate more.

Sometimes, you’ll find them talking to an imaginary audience, acting out their imaginations and telling great stories through writing. Some of them will talk and talk about how they want to write story books and publish them. What to do thus stage? Encourage them!
5. Enjoys sharing their work
They show everyone who cares to know the new story they’ve written or one publishing dream that they have, so that they can get feedback from them and get opinions on what to write and how to write better.
It gets them excited when someone pays attention to them and is willing to give them feedback.
All in all, when you see that your child is showing signs that they might have a natural talent for writing, don’t discourage them. Instead, nurture them because it’s easier to fuel interests in children when their minds are more receptive and gullible.
