Four ex-militants, who completed their university education through sponsorship of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, at the Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Benin, have been offered automatic employment by authorities of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Ernest Izevbigie, disclosed this during an award ceremony for the beneficiaries of the amnesty programme, held at the institution.
He said the four ex-agitators were among the about 200 students who made first class and second class degrees from the institution.
Meanwhile, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier-General Paul Boroh, on Wednesday, disclosed that a total of 2,600 ex-militants have received tertiary education under the education unit of the amnesty programme.
The special adviser, who was represented by the Head of Education (Onshore) of the Presidential Amnesty Office, Major Kesiena Mowari (retd), explained that the implementation of the immediate cessation of all further offshore academic placements was due to his belief in the standard and quality of domestic institutions.
