Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC from Imo State, Chief George Uju Madu, has urged Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the incumbent Vice President Yemi Osibanjo to give the younger politicians opportunity to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari considering their old age.
The nationally acclaimed security consultant urged both Sen Tinubu and Prof Osibanjo to graciously drop their presidential ambitions and allow the younger ones a chance, come 2023.
Madu made the call Sunday while speaking with newsmen in Owerri advised aged presidential aspirants in other political parties like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to give the younger generation the opportunity to take a turn and prove their mettle in politics and governance.
On the raging issue of power-shift and zoning of the presidential slot, Chief Madu advocated that Nigeria’s next President shall come from Southern Nigeria and recommended that members of the ruling APC should rally support for the Minister of Transportation and former governor of Rivers State, Chief Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Describing Chief Amaechi as a young man full of vision, wisdom and energy to take Nigeria to an enviable height in the coming future, the security expert cum politician noted that the former Rivers State governor is the only one among the APC presidential hopefuls that can enjoy the massive support of Nigerians across the geopolitical divides, especially youths who will see him as one of their own.

He said: “If the presidential ticket is given to Amaechi, it will mean an easy win for the APC because the youth and women would prefer him to older persons like Tinubu, Osinbajo and the rest of the old bloc.”
He further posited that the transport minister, who he said, remains most acceptable because he has many things working in his favour as two-time Director-General, DG, of Muhammadu Buhari’s Campaign Organisation, former two-time Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor and a performing serving minister of the federal republic.
He said: “If APC eventually zones the presidency to the South, all southerners in APC should close ranks and rally support for Rotimi Amaechi to clinch the presidential ticket.
He vowed to personally work for him to get the ticket and emerge as president.
He said: “What I did in Kenya for Uhuru Kenyatta to defeat Raula Odinga to see Amaechi through; because that is what I know how to do best.”
According to him if the South wants to get the Presidency to come 2023, Asiwaju Tinubu and VP Yemi Osinbajo should steer off the way and allow Amaechi to run and get victory for APC adding that he commands support in the North, especially with Presidency behind him
Fielding questions on the lingering leadership crisis rocking the APC at the national level, Madu declared that If the current crisis is not managed carefully and timely, it may truncate the current democracy and throwback Nigeria into anarchy.
He said: “With the way things are going within the ruling party and the country at large, if something urgent and drastic is not done to redeem the situation, Muhammadu Buhari may be the last President of a united and democratic Nigeria, but God forgive.
He, therefore, called on political gladiators within the ruling APC who are behind the crisis to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance or military boys may be tempted to wade in like it happened in neighbouring West African states recently.
He said: “Many Nigerians are disenchanted and uncomfortable with the situation of things in the economy, politics etc and would not be able to tolerate the infighting in APC beyond now.”
