The State Chairman of the party, Barrister Nasir Adewale Bolaji, made this clarification at the weekend in a statement made available to newsmen, declaring that the ADP in Lagos had not conducted primaries to determine its flagbearer of the party.
According to Bolaji, ADP is a party that operates strictly according to the tenets of democracy and will never compromise on constitutionality and the rule of law, saying that the party would never drench itself in the gutters of impunity and that as a lawyer, he understood the implications of these things.
“The platform is open to every interested member of the public with the capacity, character and competence to make a positive difference in the lives of Lagosians and Nigerians as a whole. All elective positions from state House of Assembly, House of Reps, Senate and the Governorship are all still open for interested aspirants,” the party boss said.
He, however, said that some aspirants had been showing interest to fly the party’s flag but that due process must prevail, noting that Lagosians were intelligent people who won’t take less but the best from every political party.
“When the time comes, every aspirant will have to go through primaries as stipulated clearly in the Nigerian Electoral Act and that of the party,” the party boss said, adding that the ADP constitution allowed every card-carrying member of the party to participate in the selection process for candidates.
Bolaji, therefore, assured Lagosians that the ADP would present best candidates for all the elective positions in the 2019 polls, saying that the aim of the ADP as a fastest growing political party was to bring forward competent Nigerians that could easily connect with people, provide good governance and be accountable to the people of Lagos and all of Nigeria.
