Melaye, in a video shoot that lasted about two minutes, also said the governor would land in jail after his tenure as governor.
According to him, Bello does not have the locus standi to determine who will win an election since he himself is not a voter in Kogi State.
The senator in his usual manner opened the video with a Yoruba song; “Kilotun ku ti o so, eniti a be lori to tun n senu wuje, kilo tun ku ti o se”, which literally means, “ what else will he say, the person that has been beheaded and still murmuring, what else will he say?”.
Bello had last Wednesday, during one of the programmes marking his second year in office, berated the National Assembly members from the state, saying they had performed below expectations.
He said efforts were on to replace the three senators and the nine members of the House of Representatives during the next general election.
But, Melaye in the video, queried the rationale behind the governor’s statement, saying Bello who had issues of voter registration, lacked the moral and legal right to claim he would replace the lawmakers at election.
Apparently referring to the alleged double registration by the governor, Melaye made jest of the governor by saying he was a candidate of the prison after his four year tenure.
But, the state governor in his reaction to the development, said he had chosen to ignore the senator.
Bello, who spoke through the Director General, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, said, “We have no reaction to such; we have decided to ignore him and it takes two people to fight. We are not interested in it.”
