1 die, 14 injured in Osun road crash

One person reportedly lost his life while 14 others sustained several degrees of injuries in a road accident that occurred along Osogbo/Gbongan expressway, Osun State.

The incident occurred around 7.00 am on Sunday at Oogi, an adjourning town to Sekona.

One of the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps who preferred anonymity disclosed that the accident involved a Toyota Corolla car with registration number, SMK582GE and a Mazda bus with registration number, FFA114XB.

Eyewitness account who spoke to our reporter stated that the development which threw inhabitants of the town into a sympathetic mood led to rescuing of those trapped in the vehicles by the community members.

While rescuing them, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and that of the Nigerian Police Force said to have intervened in the humanitarian services.

Meanwhile, many sympathisers who trooped into the scene, betrayed emotions as tears rolled down from their eyelids uncontrollably.

The remains of the dead passenger had been deposited at a nearby hospital by the family members and members of the drivers’ union of the Ikirun unit while those injured had been taken to Owode Muslim Hospital, Owode in the state.
