The Chief Orientation and Mobilization Office (COMO) in-charge of Lafia local government council, Mallam Abdullahi Umar Sarki who revealed this while carrying awareness campaign to Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Dr. Mustapha Agwai 1.
Mallam Sarki, said they were at the palace of the paramount ruler to draw his attention on the hookworm attitude of people in the state to visit the office and register themselves in both the National Identity Number (NIN) and the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) which had become source of worry to them as officials.
According to him “the population projection of indigenes of our state stand at two million but till now the total registered indigenes for the NIN remains at three hundred thousand people (300,000) which represents only 15%.
He then called on the people to be patriotic to government’s policies and directives, by ensuring their names are registered in the continue’s exercise.
The officer in charge further called on residents of the state who names are not also registered in the ongoing Permanent Voters Card exercise to take advantage of the stipulated time to do so before the date elapsed.

“Again, on the Permanent Voter Card (PVC), we want to put the entire indigenes on alert because the closing date of continues registration of voters card is scheduled for Saturday 17th August 2018.
“Now the problem is the bulk of cards that are waiting for collection after all the effort they made to register,” he started.
He urged them to go and collect their PVCs before the election and equally said that those who have not registered or lost their cards, still have the opportunity to do so before the closing date.
“It is our firm belief that this message can only carry more weight and becomes result-oriented when you (traditional chiefs) support the campaign as usual,” he added.
