THE Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has called churches in Nigeria to unite for the purpose of the propagation of the gospel.
He made this known while playing host to the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria at the NCPC corporate headquarters, Abuja.
The NCPC boss intimated that the entire church is built on one strong pillar which is Jesus Christ and urged the body of Christ in Nigeria to forget their differences and doctrines and put their resources together to preach Christ and promote the gospel. According to him, “this is the only way we can sustain the future of the church”.
Rev. Uja explained that the Catholic Church has ran pilgrimage over the years even before the establishment of NCPC and has opened up so many countries and Holy Sites for Christians to visit all over the world.
In his words, “the Catholic Church has done well in the participation of pilgrimage”. He called on churches to emulate the Catholic Church and create opportunities that would enable Christian participate in pilgrimage.
He commended the Catholic Church for how they have been able to build Churches all over the world. According to him, “there is nowhere you go that you will not find the presence of a Catholic Church”. “This is highly commendable”, he added.
The NCPC helmsman called on the Catholic Church to provide leadership and partnership to other churches so that they could benefit and experience pilgrimage too. He said that “the reason God gives a go ahead to a person is to strengthen others along the way”.
He informed that the commission is emphasizing on the spiritual elements of pilgrimage so that people who would go on pilgrimage will come back to strengthen the church and be a blessing to Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the Director Pastoral Affairs Department of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Rev. Father Ojaye Idoko informed the Executive Secretary that the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria organises different pilgrimages and solicit for the support of the commission to make their pilgrimages stress free and successful.
