The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commands of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reassured residents of adequate security as both organizations strengthen ties ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The two agencies affirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property in the capital city during a courtesy visit by the FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Olatunji Disu, to the FCT NSCDC Command headquarters, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
The FCT NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, while receiving the CP, stated that the visit would further enhance the existing synergy between both organizations.
He added that it would also foster improved service delivery and the protection of residents, as well as all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) in the FCT, according to a statement by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command of the NSCDC, Monica Ojobi, on Thursday in Abuja.
“Collaboration is crucial to achieving shared goals in maintaining peace and security, as no single organization has a monopoly on strategies for security management.
“We need each other because unity and teamwork are essential in effectively tackling the security challenges in the FCT and the country at large,” Odumosu said.
Odumosu reiterated the Corps’ preparedness to collaborate with the Police in ensuring that crimes and other nefarious activities are curtailed.
He warned individuals with criminal intentions during the Yuletide season to desist, as both organizations are working closely to ensure a peaceful Christmas celebration and holiday in the FCT.
The Commandant also urged residents to remain security-conscious and proactive by reporting any suspicious movements or activities within their communities.
He described the CP as one of Nigeria’s finest police commissioners, whose vast experience is invaluable in addressing insecurity.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, CP Disu, emphasized the critical importance of synergy between both organizations and stressed the need for prompt sharing of intelligence reports.
He noted that successful collaboration could be enhanced through joint training sessions and sporting activities, which would help bridge gaps between operatives of the two organizations.
The CP assured the NSCDC FCT Commandant of his unwavering commitment to sustaining their robust relationship, which would trickle down to officers and personnel, particularly during field operations.
He commended the existing working relationship with the FCT Commandant, whom he described as a brother, friend, and colleague.
To mark the significant visit, both security chiefs exchanged gifts, symbolizing mutual respect and their shared commitment to national security.
