Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Awwal Musa Mohammed has directed all Area Commanders, Heads of Departments, and Divisional Police Officers to ventilate the state with overt and covert security deployments throughout the Yuletide.
The deployment is in order to safeguard lives and property, provide security coverage to all worship and recreational centers, and conduct raids on identified trouble spots.
Also, all the Police Divisions of the Command have been charged to place adequate measures in their neighborhood policing beat.
According to a statement by the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili, “Consequently, high visibility Policing will be maintained before, during, and after the Celebrations; as Police patrol vehicles have been strategically deployed on our highways and undercover operatives and Policemen have also been mobilised to cover all nooks and crannies.”
The Command, therefore, enjoined the people of the state to be peaceful during the Yuletide celebrations.
“In case of any distress before, during, and after the celebration, members of the public are advised to visit any of the Police Stations nearest to them or call the emergency number; CRU 08023684497, 0904 822 6246.”
The Commissioner of Police wished the general public a happy festive celebration and called on the residents to use the period for sober reflection and offer prayers for the peace, progress, and unity of the state and the nation at large.
He also stated that the Christmas season is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ stressing that, “On this auspicious moment, the Commissioner of Police felicitates with Christendom and urges the faithful to emulate the true teachings of Jesus Christ by selflessly love one another, promoting peace and unity in their livelihood.”
The commissioner of police equally called on religious leaders, worshipers, and the good people of the state to cooperate with the police and other security agencies, as adequate and comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place to guarantee hitch-free celebrations.
