A former President General (PG) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World-Wide, Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu Chukwu, has challenged Nigerian youths to work together as a team to formulate new policies and programmes that will guide the country into a united, peaceful, prosperous and inclusive nation.
Addressing the Southern Youth Assembly of Nigeria (SYAN) in Owerri on Saturday after being conferred with an award of Grand Patron of Southern Youth Assembly, Ozichukwu bemoaned the present socio-economic conditions in the country.
He said: “There are problems everywhere, and Nigeria is not an exception, but I can tell you that it is the collective faults of everyone.
Most politicians, irrespective of political parties, are greedy and living in denials. The parties are guilty of unforced errors and suffering titanic syndrome.”
He advised the youth not to condone evil or the wrongs in the nation but to see it as a responsibility to do the things right.
He said: “If we build Nigeria today on falsehood, denials, and unforced errors, be sure that tomorrow it will collapse.
Consequently, our future generations will suffer, meaning that we have not succeeded. It is better we suffer today, and history will bear testimonies that we worked, rather than being happy today, and tomorrow, there will neither be happiness and joy nor proud history.
“While accepting the award of ‘Grand Patron’ of SYAN, the former PDP National Vice Chairman and Chairman South-East, advised the youth to emulate the virtues of our two great Nigerian leaders, Pa Edwin Clerk and Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who just passed on to, saying “they enormously contributed to the unity, gounth, and development of the Earlier, the chairman and leader of the delegation, Sani Ahmed Ifeoluwa, described the awardee as a good example of humanity who has given back to the society with his philanthropic gesture towards humanity, building leaders of today and most especially on the education sector, the bedrock to a promising and greater Nigeria.
