The Yoruba community in Bauchi State has constituted and inaugurated a constitution review committee with a charge on members of the committee to ensure the revised constitution aligned with the community’s vision, mission and values.
The President-General of the community, Special Apostle Segun Awofadeji, while performing the inauguration at the Yoruba Community House in Bauchi, charged the committee members to carry out its assignment with sincerity, diligence and transparency.
Awofadeji said that the present executive of the community in the state is committed to reviewing its constitution to ensure it remains relevant, effective and aligned with its goals and objectives in order to move the community forward.
“Over the years, lack of credible and workable constitution in running the affairs of the community has put us in a serious but avoidable crisis, animosity, distrust and even division among ourselves in the community.
“And various committees had been set up to either review, update or amend the constitution to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the community, that is to align with the community’s vision, mission and values towards enhancing its socio -economic and political development, but all to no avail.
“The task before this committee is huge but surmountable. You are to help write the wrong, provide a credible, effective, standard and enduring constitution, encompassing best practices.
“Looking at the calibre and pedigree of individual members of the committee, and with your unwavering commitment, patriotic zeal and experience, we rest assured that this is achievable,” he said.
