One hundred and two senior citizens have been honoured for their contributions to the body of Christ by the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Ibukun, Yaba, Lagos State.
The awardees, whose ages ranged between 70 years and 94 years, were men and women who served in various capacities in the Christ Apostolic Church.
The Yaba DCC Superintendent of the church, Pastor S. A. Oludare, while speaking during the ceremony, said that it was in obedience to the teaching of the bible and an inspiration from one of the teachings in the CAC.

The cleric also said that the awardees had over a long period of time contributed to the growth and development of the church.
Pastor Oludare said: “This event was first conceived by my humble self. It was an outcome of a special lecture, delivered by a group of resource persons invited by the CAC authorities to address the people who attended the 2018 General Council held at the Babalola Memorial Camp, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State.
The chairperson of the award committee, Deaconess Folashade Jacobs, while speaking at the occasion, said: “Today, according to God’s instructions, we have gathered here to thank the Lord for the beautiful lives of our senior citizens, to celebrate and honour them as a way of saying thank tyou for their services in the church.”
She added that “we pray that this occasion will be the beginning of a new era where we will continually appreciate the value, will and commitment of our senior citizens and give them their well-deserved honours
Pastor Gabriel Obafemi in his sermon at the occasion urged the senior citizens not to be anxious of anything again and that they should only stand for holiness .
