No fewer than 120 young women were impacted during a transformative event organised by the She Matters Initiative. The event, themed “A Female Can Be More: Empower, Educate, and Elevate,” took place at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and provided a platform for education, empowerment, and mentorship for female students.
The initiative, founded by Busayo Oluyemi, focused on breaking societal barriers and inspiring young women to unlock their potential. Through interactive workshops, group discussions, and motivational speeches, the participants gained insights into personal development and strategies for achieving their goals.
One of the standout moments was the keynote address by Miss Oyelowo Bolanle, who shared her journey of overcoming personal challenges and rising to success. Encouraging the participants to aim high, she said, “The challenges you face are stepping stones to greatness. Never give up on your dreams.” Her message resonated deeply, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees.
Founder Busayo Oluyemi also took the stage to emphasize the importance of determination and resilience. She urged the participants to remain steadfast in their pursuit of greatness, reminding them, “Hard work and perseverance are key to breaking barriers and achieving your dreams.”
Beyond the inspirational talks, the event tackled critical issues such as menstrual health and hygiene. Each attendee received a package of sanitary pads, symbolizing the initiative’s commitment to the well-being and dignity of women. This thoughtful gesture reinforced the importance of accessible menstrual care for young women in educational institutions.
The event created a safe space for participants to connect, share experiences, and gain knowledge from seasoned mentors. Many attendees described the program as empowering and transformative, with several expressing newfound confidence in their abilities to challenge societal norms and pursue their aspirations.
The success of the program underscores the significance of initiatives like She Matters, which address the unique challenges faced by young women in their personal and academic lives. By equipping them with tools for self-development and leadership, the organization is paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable society.
Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the event as a life-changing experience. They noted the valuable insights gained from the speakers and the opportunity to interact with like-minded individuals striving for excellence.
As She Matters Initiative continues its mission of empowering young women, its impact is evident in the lives of those it has touched. Programs like this serve as a reminder of the importance of investing in the potential of women to create lasting societal change.
