Sokoto state Governor, Rt. Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has disclosed that the provision of potable water to the people of the state is among his priorities.

The Governor stated this while inspecting the construction of 1.5 million gallons capacity of a semi-urban water project in Sabon Birni Local Government, a project that is already 75% completed.

This is contained in a released signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Muhammad Bello, and released to journalists in the state on Tuesday.

He revealed that the project is among similar ones being executed in 17 local governments of the 23 local government areas of the state.

The statement further disclosed that the Governor assured that the contract for the execution of such projects in the remaining four local government areas would soon be awarded even as he declared that the contract for the construction of 250 boreholes across the state have been earlier awarded and work has reached an advanced stage of completion on them.

He urged the people to always guard their projects against vandalization.

The Sabon Birni project is expected to be completed in a month’s time as all facilities of the project were on the ground while all the required boreholes have been drilled.
