It is not true. There is no such movement in the National Assembly, this is what I know. What justifies his impeachment? What has he done wrong? Has he committed any impeachable act? They cannot substantiate it. Maybe they are not comfortable with him, that is why they want to impeach him. It is baseless. People are not comfortable with him because of their corrupt attitude. This is corruption fighting back. He has not done anything wrong or any impeachable act. People are tired of his policy, because it is not business as usual again. The corrupt politicians are not comfortable, that is why they are making every move to see that he goes, which is not even possible.
—Hamzat Olawale
If truly he has committed any impeachable act, there is nothing wrong in impeaching him. Though some people may say it is political; whether it is political or not, inasmuch as he is found guilty of any offence that might cause them to impeach him, so be it. I do not have anything more to say than that. More so, as of now, it is only that people might want to go against it. To my own personal view, the majority are not in support of this government again. Even if he is impeached, we will celebrate. I will be one of those who will jubilate. I will be happy that he is gone. So, let them go ahead and impeach him, if they can impeach him.
—Oloriaje Wasiu
The impeachment move is to make Buhari to probably sit up. There is no way they can impeach the president. They will not even do it. However, we know the president has committed, if not much, some impeachable offences. So, that is just to let the president know that he is working contrary to the Nigerian constitution. It is a kind of showing grievances to the president. To me, I am not sure they will impeach the president. There is nothing like that. That is it.
—Abaotun Kajero
Nigeria needs digital-age men, not analog men. We do not need retired generals as president now. The generals have failed this country. We need men of wisdom on the realm of affair. Not necessarily that they have been in politics before. It is not about experience, it is about wisdom. Solomon ruled with wisdom. We have men who have not been in power before, that if you give them this country to rule, this country will turn around. People like Buhari should go and sit down. They have no ideas. They have no blueprints. They have no wisdom to lead Nigeria in this digital age we are now. Buhari cannot articulate his thought. We need men that are flowing with ideas; that, in their personal endeavours, they were successful. So, if you give Nigeria to them, Nigeria will be successful. People like Buhari should go back to their homes or to barracks where they came from. We are no more in military era. We do not need them again. They should leave Nigeria alone for the upcoming generation.
—Wale Muri
In my own opinion, Buhari’s government has generally failed Nigerians. They came to this regime with a lot of promises and we believed they were the sent messiahs to our country. But obviously, these promises are nothing but empty promises. If this impeachment threat will push through, I will be one of the happiest people. I really will support hundred percent that the man be removed. This country is going through a lot and they are not helping matter at all. Hundreds of lives have been lost in the recent killings and nothing is done about the situation. Things are heading for the worst. Why do we have a government? Their fundamental duty is to protect lives, and they have failed woefully. So, they have no business retaining that power. I will really subscribe that he should be impeached, and not just him, all the members of his cabinet. They should all go because they have failed Nigerians. I will really be happy if he is impeached, with even immediate effect.
—Rita Nwoagu
It is now that the National Assembly realises its importance in the Nigerian government. If they want to impeach the president, it is now they are doing what the constitution and Nigerians demand from it. However, the issue with the Senate and the Honourable Members impeaching the president is that they have soiled themselves with the corruption going on in the government. So, the executive will use that to blackmail them in order to use that to weaken the impeachment process. I know Nigeria democracy is still growing, but the National Assembly has to step up and do the right thing by holding the executive responsible for their actions. They can do this by not playing to the gallery and also by avoiding anything that will tarnish their image and belittle them in the presence of Nigerians or the executive.
—Michael Oko
Let him be impeached. I believe the National Assembly has taken the bold step to address what Nigerians long expected. A leader of a great nation that is full of challenges and volatiles, to many changes that span through technological advancements, religious inclinations, insecurity matters, regional prospects, to mention the least, needs a strong-willed, bold, brilliant, smart, unbiased, non-sectional, decisive and proactive leader with excellent administrative strategies. If these, and many other attributes, are lacking as Nigerians long for them, then where is the hope? Where are the qualities Nigerians were expecting? I do not want to paraphrase these wonderful reasons any longer. He is placing demands publicly on his subjects, and they violate them with claims that they are serving other greater calls. This is confession, and Nigerians cannot be led by a such a leader. I rest my case.
—Pev Iortsaha
How can you claim to fight corruption when there is no justice? How can you be the president and cannot caution your appointees who place themselves above the law? In which kind of democracy are killer herdsmen not declared and treated as terrorists? What leader cannot even caution the public threat of lives by Miyetti Allah? Our democracy must not be raped by ethnicity and religious differences. Protection of lives and property must be the top priority of any good leader. A fight against opposition/enemies must not be tagged as anti-corruption war. Anti-corruption war is the way forward, but it must not be politicised. The threat by the National Assembly to invoke it power on the president is a call to order. However, I urge the National Assembly not to be political in invoking it’s power; rather, it should be sincere in such motive. Long life, Nigeria.
—Terlumun Susegh
This is Nigeria where anything goes. Even when things are wrong they portray it as if things are right. Over the years we have seen how the National Assembly and the executive have been using the tools available to them to victimise each other to get whatever they want. The executive arm of government has been politicking by using unconstitutional ways to prosecute their perceived enemies, like the lawmakers; and the lawmakers see themselves as people who have immunity, who should not be prosecuted, and once that is done, they perceive they are being victimised and resort to tools such as this impeachment threat and start collecting signatures. None of them can be exonerated. I want to say the threat is nothing to write home about. The threat does not hold water. Though National Assembly has the power to impeach the president, it has to go through a constitutional process, which I think is a long process. Meanwhile, his tenure is gradually rounding up. So, to me, the threat does not hold water.
—Joseph
If that will bring solutions to the problems of this country, they should go ahead since he is not the only right person in Nigeria. There are many Nigerians who, if given an opportunity to be president, will perform very well, much more better than him.
—Ahmad Muhammad
Those who are saying empty threat should ask BALARABE MUSA why is the police reversing their position on Saraki’s invitation. Those who know the implication will not joke with the threat. As for me, impeachment or no impeachment, everything is less than 12 months.
—Adebisi Adelabu
Buhari’s impeachment will be the best thing to happen to our country and democracy in recent times if it can be followed to conclusion, because every one knows that Nigeria cannot survive another four years of buhari’.
—Mark Orghor
Yes,it is ok. Just look at the killings in Benue State. I believe he asked the police not to do anything because of Islamic agenda. He is supposed to have gone since. This is the wost government ever. The killings are too much, my people.
—Attahir Abdullahi
I am not proud, but let me tell you: no body in Nigeria can impeach man of GOD. And if you people think you can do it, try and see. Thieves who stole our money do not want us to tell the world that they are thieves. You cannot do anything to Buhari, by the grace of GOD, until 2023. And he will bring any man that he wants; and we the Buhari support group will vote anybody that Buhari wants us to vote for. You people will never win this war.
—Prince Charles Chukwu
Buhari is long due for impeachment. He is just there because Nigeria does not have a functional legislative power.
—Edmund Chuks
Buhari deserves the impeachment. He is incompetent.
—Buba Danladi
Their threat is empty. President Buhari is untouchable. Those that have corruption charges with EFCC or criminals cases with the police, let them go and face the consequence because their threat will not stop Buhari from fighting corruption. #MBuhari till 2023, God willing.
—Auwal Moga
It is long over due. The way PMB is running the affairs of this nation symbolises wickedness of the highest order.
—Oladiran Femi
Only the person that does not know his right or left, I mean a confused person, that would support this man’s impeachment motion like our so-called legislatives who are afraid of the consequences of their looting.
—Muhammad Sani Umar
