We will ensure due process in the implementation of budget, Gamawa assures lawmakers

As it awaits the approval of the 2020 proposed budget by the State House of Assembly, the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning has pledged to ensure due process was duly followed in the implementation and execution of the budget.

The assurance was given by the Commissioner, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Aminu Hassan Gamawa when he led management staff of the Ministry budget defence before the State Assembly Committee on Budget and Appropriation.

Aminu Gamawa said that the proposed budget estimate was below that of the previous years, as projects and programmes captured in the budget were based on the economic reality and the need to ensure that all projects embarked upon were completed.

He also said that in order to assist the governor to deliver as expected, the Ministry will map out modalities of exploring more funding opportunities as well as boosting the state internally generated revenue.

The Commissioner added that in line with International best practices, the Ministry will ensure transparency and accountability in the discharge of its assigned responsibilities.

While highlighting the performance of the budget, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr Yuhuza Ningi, said that with their support and cooperation, justice will be done in budget implementation.

Members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Budget and Appropriation urged the Ministry to adopt monitoring and evaluation mechanism framework in order to track the progress of the implementation of 2020 budget to ensure performance and accountability.

The lawmakers gave assurance that the ninth Assembly will give the desired attention to the twenty-twenty budget estimates presented before the house by Governor Bala Mohammed as contained in a statement by Muslim Lawal, Personal Assistant on Media to the Commissioner.
