SENATOR Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has donated N 2.7 million, fifty-four bags of rice and guinea corn to the families of the people killed by bandits in Warwana, Dutsi and Tursa villages, Gandi District, Rabah Local of Sokoto State.
With the cash given, each of the deceased families was allocated with 100,000 naira cash, a bag of rice and a bag of guinea corn, to cushion their difficulties.
According to a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani and issued to newsmen in Sokoto on Thursday.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, who also represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, made the donations on Tuesday when he led a retinue of his entourage on a condolence visit to the District Head of Gandi, Alhaji Maccido Yarin Gandi.

The statement explained that the cash and grains were handed over to the District Head of Gandi, Alhaji Maccido Yarin Gandi and the All Progressives Congress ( APC), House of Representatives Candidate for the Rabah and Wurno Federal Constituency, Architect Almustapha Ibrahim Rabah, for onward distribution to the benefiting families.
Senator Wamakko described the killing of the innocent citizens as unholy, ungodly and barbaric. He prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the deceased persons eternal rest, as well as grant the bereaved families the formidable fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.
While responding, the District Head of Gandi, Alhaji Maccido Yarin Gandi, commended the former Governor of Sokoto state for the invaluable visit.
The statement said those on the entourage of Senator Wamakko include the Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), the Chairman and Director -General of the Campaign Council, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi and Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, respectively,, and a former Deputy Governor in the state, Alhaji Chiso Dattijo Abdullahi, among other dignitaries.
Special prayers for the repose of souls of the deceased and the prevention of the recurrence of the dastardly incident led by Sheikh Bashir Gidan Kanawa were also offered.
