Coke Studio Africa 5 has said the international pop megastar singer, Jason Derulo, from the United States, will visit its studio to collaborate with some African artistes in the global fusion of African music.
The Quadrant Company, a public relations company for Coke Studio, disclosed this in a statement.
The company quoted Soji Omoigui, the Senior Brand Manager, Coco-Cola, as saying that Derulo would come to Africa to share his ingeniuity with African artistes.
He would as well learn from the experiences of working with Africa’s hottest artistes, the statement said.
“The pop megastar is one of the world’s most successful song writers and recording artistes selling over 50 million singles worldwide and had raked in no less than 11 platinum singles so far.
“Derulo’s original songs were given African twist and the results were magical. The two original hits were conceptualised, recorded and performed by Jah Prayzah from Zimbabwe.
“The others were played by Betty G from Ethiopia, while Joey B from Ghana collaborated to add some flavour to Derulo’s hit song, “In my head.”
“And Locko from Cameroon, Denise from Madagascar and Mozambique’s Mr Bow re-imagined another Derulo’s chat topper, “Trumpets”, the statement said.
Omoigui said Coke Studio had truly exposed the potential in music within Africa and even broken the barriers through collaborations with the special global fusion.
According to him, these are the covers done by the Coke Studio to assist African artistes to excel and learn more.
Omoigui said after Derulo had listened to the cover versions of both songs done by some the African artistes, he said, “the performance was a hit, I was not expecting it.
“The guys really tore the roof down,” he said.
