Two suspects in Anambra lawmaker’s murder escape from Police custody

In a shocking turn of events, two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Anambra State lawmaker, Hon. Justice Azuka, have escaped from police custody.

The Anambra State Police Command has launched an operational plan to re-arrest the suspects and has also initiated disciplinary action against the officers responsible for their escape.

According to a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has deployed human, operational, and intelligence assets to ensure the suspects are re-arrested and justice is served.

The escape occurred during an operation to apprehend the receiver of stolen vehicles used by the gang in their criminal activities.

Although the receiver was arrested and two vehicles were recovered, the two suspects managed to flee the scene.

The police command has assured the public that efforts are in top gear to re-arrest the fugitives and bring them to justice.

The officers responsible for the escape will also face disciplinary action if found culpable.

This development comes after nine suspects were initially arrested in connection with the murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, who represented Onitsha 1 Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
