The local hunters in Iyemero Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, on Friday, in partnership with military JTF deployed in the area, arrested two suspected herdsmen in connection with attacks and killings in the area.
In the last two months, the suspects had attacked a farmstead called Eda in Iyemero five times and raided the village.
The Olu of Iyemero, Oba Ebenezer Ogungbemi, disclosed that the motive of the assailants was to sack the residents who are predominantly farmers and take over their land.

The leader of the hunters, Mr Jimoh Eisikin, explained that the suspects were intercepted and arrested by the combined team of hunters and military troops around 1.00 a.m. on Friday when they were on their way to attack the village.
“These herders have been raping our women and killing our people for the past six months.
“During the onslaught leading to their arrest yesterday, two of our village hunters were macheted by these evil doers. But for the fact that we were prepared, we got them arrested after chasing them into the bush.
“We brought them to Iyemero and tied them down at the village square with close security monitoring,” he said.
Oba Ogungbemi was said to have called the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Asuquo Amba, who sent his men to bring the culprits to Ado Ekiti.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Caleb Ikechukwu, said the suspects were being detained at the police headquarters.
“Our men have begun investigation into their case and they will be charged to court upon conclusion of our investigation,” he said.
