The Kano State Government has emphasised that training and retraining of personnel is a key determinant of organisational success and should be a priority for the government.
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, made this statement on Monday during a workshop in the state capital.
The workshop included 214 personnel, including information officers, MDAS (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies), media aides, news and current affairs managers, and reporters from selected public and private media organisations.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Yusuf, the State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, highlighted the government’s initiative to organise a three-day capacity-building workshop for information officers, media aides, and other stakeholders to enhance efficient service delivery in the state.
Yusuf stressed that the training was designed to equip the participants with the necessary skills for their roles as information managers.
He stated that the training would create an avenue for skill development, knowledge enhancement, and improved performance and efficiency among personnel in the workplace.
The governor pointed out that training and retraining of personnel is a critical factor in organisational success, as it makes staff feel valued, boosts their morale and confidence, and transforms them into more capable workers.
Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in human resource development and capacity building for the state’s workforce through workshops, short-term, medium-term, and long-term training.
He expressed confidence that, by the end of the exercise, participants would be better prepared and equipped to carry out their responsibilities with renewed passion and energy.
The State Commissioner for Information, Malam Baba Halilu Dantiye, added that the training also aimed to familiarise participants with the relevance, indispensability, and challenges of social media and other online platforms in information dissemination and management.
He mentioned that the workshop would enhance the communication skills of information officers for more effective and efficient information dissemination.
A total of 214 personnel, including information officers, MDAS, media aides, news and current affairs managers, and reporters from selected public and private media organisations, participated in the workshop.
