A 38-year-old trader, Aliyu Samaila, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged theft of a laptop worth N150, 000 and other items.
Samaila, who resides at Shehu Lamido Road, Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna, is facing a two-count charge bordering on trespass and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Yilga Luka told the court that the matter was reported by one Musa Gambo of Accra Crescent, Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna on Jan. 7.
According to Luka, on the same date at about 1.00p.m., the defendant criminally trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole his laptop valued at N150,000.

The prosecutor further said that the defendant also stole Samsung tablet A and a power bank, value unknown before he was caught while trying to escape.
Luka added that the defendant voluntarily confessed to the alleged crime, which contravened the provisions of Sections 334 and 271 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty, while the Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Sidi, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties in like sum.
Sidi stated that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until Jan. 28, for hearing.
