The Executive Director, Lagos International Trade Fair, Mrs Lucy Ajayi, has been crowned Yeye Oge of Oke-Ogberein the Isolo area of Lagos state.
Speaking at the Coronation Ceremony, The Baale Of Oke-Ogbere, High Chief Tajudeen Ganiyu, said that the director was chosen because of her impacts, capability and clouts.
“The reason why we choose her is because she is up to the task. She is very hardworking. She has made so many impact in the society.
“Yeye Oge is a powerful position. It could be honorary but it is a traditional title in some other enclaves. A woman, who is of worthy character and hardworking, is usually crowned Yeye Oge,” he said.
Speaking also, Mrs Lucy said she will continue to live on the reason why the community decided to honour her, saying “They told me I am being honoured because I am humble. So, I think I will continue that humility and I will continue to do what they saw in me that they decide to honour me with the title”.
The husband Of the celebrant, Mr Folorunsho Ajayi, assured that the new feather added to her cap will not conflict with home chores, describing her as respectful.
“I thank God for the conferment of the title on her. Considering the kind of person she is, I don’t think this role will conflict with her home chores. She does not allow anything get into her head. Always respectful.
“I have been doing everything to support her, anywhere and whatever she wants as long as she is okay and doing well”
“I would say that naturally and even in the good books says that a woman that fears the lord would be blessed or be appreciated.
Explaining why she deserves to be honoured with the role, Mr Ajayi said that she has been occupying a leadership position that has been yielding positive influences, adding that this will further enhance the role.
“I think she deserves it in the sense that she would be a leading example to every woman, at least take a little from whatever she does.
“She is a very good example to other women and I am sure that they would follow suit” Mr Ajayi said.
The celebrant’s father, Chief Larry Odijie, expressed joy over the title conferred on her daughter, saying they were all brought up the traditional values due to the laid down rules and regulations in the house.
“When you are a traditional chief and your daughter is being honoured outside your domain. There is nothing more joyful than that.
“My daughter had once told me how I brought them up with the rules and regulations laid out even though I can’t remember that anymore.
“They were all born and lived in Lagos, but they all speak my language as if they were born in my place.
“The regulation then was that in my house you speak my language but you can speak anything outside and that’s why they were able to speak my language and speak Yoruba fluently,” the Father said.
