Though the just-concluded 67th annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was full of activities, the popular prayer ground witnessed another eventful ceremony when the authorities of the church led by the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, hosted dignitaries from all walks of life at the inauguration of Intensive Care Unit (UCI) and modern clinic.
From the main gate of the campground to the health centre, it was obvious that something unusual was happening in the RCCG camp, precisely on August 8, with the presence of top government functionaries of Ogun State led by the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The event was heralded with the arrival of Governor Abiodun and Pastor Adeboye, alongside his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye, to the venue, as the church brigade thrilled all with various displays.
The state-of-the-earth facility thrilled Governor Abiodun and others, as they expressed their joy for being part of the event.
According to Abiodun, the church has taken Christianity a little further in the support of humanity and the underprivileged through healthcare and charity. He added that the intensive care unit and modern clinic was a demonstration that pulpit is not only a viable platform for the spiritual fulfillment of the people, but also a means of ensuring healthcare to the people.
While expressing his delight over the development, Abiodun noted that the gesture was significant as it would be beneficial to the people of Ogun State and Nigeria at large, especially travellers on the Lagos/Ibadan highway, just as he also commended Adeboye for his commitment in giving back to humanity through healthcare delivery, among other areas.
“It is on record that the ICU would be the third in the country to be set up by the CSR arm of the church, His Love Foundation. It is my pleasure to be part of this great success as it also marked my first visit in official capacity to the prayer ground of the RCCG. On behalf of the government and the entire people of Ogun State, I congratulate, most especially our revered father in the Lord, Pastor Adeboye and his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye, on the inauguration of the ultramodern ICU. I also commend all those who have contributed to the success of this project.
“Indeed this is another milestone in the annals of the RCCG of which I am a proud member. I know that many of us will not forget in a hurry when Pastor Adeboye told the world that the headquarters of the church will be moving to a virgin forest at Kilometre 46 of the Lagos/Ibadan highway. The relocation was no doubt a test of faith, not only for members of the church, but also for many Christians. Without any doubt, God has revealed Himself as the church has not only become a worship centre, but a spiritual city in its own right attracting worshippers from far and wide,” he said.
In his remarks, Pastor Adeboye expressed his gratitude to God for the victory of Abiodun as the Ogun State governor, adding that “each time we see you, we rejoice because we know that our God is still on His throne and the one who puts you on the throne will not abandon you and help you to succeed.
“I thank God for the success of the project and everyone that has contributed to the success. I thank God for my Special Assistant on CRS, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade. The beautiful thing about him is to tell him this is what I want and then I can go to sleep and by the time I wake up, he will ask me to come and dedicate what I want. This is just the beginning of the greater things the almighty God will do in Ogun State, Nigeria, Africa and throughout the whole world through RCCG,” he said.
Iluyomade said the initiative was part of the focus of the church’s CSR department, adding that “it was part of the efforts of the church to genuinely put in practice the core responsibility of Christianity. God is love and love being an internal passion cannot be seen except and unless it is expressed with actions.”
