THE tension in Ekiti State as Saturday’s governorship election approaches reached a high on Wednesday as security agents deployed in the state for the election dispersed a rally called by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Governor Fayose had called on the people of the state to put on a white attire and gather at the pavilion at Fajuyi Park in Ado Ekiti for a rally, and while the people gathered, the police dispersed the people.

The police had shot several canisters of teargas to disperse the gathering crowd and had also shot into the air to scare them away.

It was gathered that when informed of what was going on got to Governor Fayose, he was said to have moved to the gate of the Government House where the pavilion is, to find out what the problem was.
