The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, was decorated with the Nelson Mandela Most Revered Africa Patriot Award of Excellence as “Africa Patriotic Leader” by a delegation from the Trans-African Youth Development Initiative (TAYDI) on Wednesday.
During the presentation in his office at the State Police Headquarters, Minna, the head of the delegation, Ambassador Bakare Luqman, remarked: “On behalf of the entire executives and members of the Trans-African Youth Development Initiative, I heartily welcome you to this epoch-making occasion.
“I thank God who granted us journey mercies for this award presentation to an outstanding and exemplary Nigerian.”
He further explained, “For the avoidance of ambiguity, the organization is one of the officially recognized voices of a large number of young people in the Commonwealth.
“It is the largest and most diverse youth-led organization in Africa,” noting that TAYDI plays an integral role in advancing youth development and coordinating activities and policies of the Commonwealth in the field of youth.
Ambassador Luqman emphasized that, “The council works for and represents the voice of all young people within the 54 Commonwealth nations,” adding, “We pay keen attention to public office holders who have positively impacted society through various means.”
According to him, “Our recognized activities include organizing seminars and workshops to enlighten youths on societal ills such as cultism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, and drug abuse.
“We also present seasonal lectures and symposia to train youths in leadership and skills acquisition, campaign against corruption, religious intolerance, violence, and other beneficial activities too numerous to mention.”
“Over the years, the organization has observed how public office holders and philanthropists have discharged their duties in delivering the dividends of democracy to their communities.
“Through this, they are identified, recognized, and encouraged to do even more.”
“Allow me to highlight some areas where this distinguished icon has shown rare commitment to humanity, such as ensuring adequate security of lives and property, promoting personnel welfare, fostering religious tolerance, supporting educational development and empowerment, nation-building, youth emancipation, philanthropy, and making notable contributions to good governance in the state,” he declared.
The head of the delegation further noted, “Sir, you are indeed a golden fish with no hidden habitat. Your visionary leadership and qualities are rarely found among other leaders and youth advocates in Africa.”
Continuing, he said, “The award recipient has earned this Nelson Mandela Most Revered Africa Patriot Award of Excellence as ‘AFRICA PATRIOTIC LEADER,’ unanimously agreed upon at the National Executive Meeting held at the United Nations Youth Assembly in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“Indeed, he has won the hearts of African youths through his conduct and credentials as a distinguished leader, dedicated administrator, bastion of hope, and statesman par excellence.”
In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, expressed appreciation to the organization for finding him worthy of the award, asserting that it is both a call to service and a reminder for greater dedication to humanity.
He acknowledged the public’s attention to his work and assured that the Police Command would continue its best efforts to serve the state.
The Police Boss, however, expressed surprise at the award and assured that it would inspire him, the Command, and its officers to further action.
He dedicated the award to the glory of God, the Nigeria Police Force, and the entire Niger State Police Command.
