Dear children, as human beings, we will forever be grateful to God for the privilege of speech, which other creatures do not have. However, a critical look at this gift reveals its two sides, one of which does not profit. The two sides are: Talking when it is necessary and needful, and talking too much which sometimes annoys your listeners. Talking too much – having to comment about events, persons, behaviour, observation, etc is not a good virtue. It is termed being talkative. I will like you to learn a few lessons from the life of the bird called ‘owl,’ in the short story below from *ourlittlejoys.com*
*A Wise Old Owl*
An old owl would observe incidents happening around his oak tree every day. The more things he saw, the less he would speak. He heard people talking and sharing stories as well. The old owl had seen so much and heard all kinds of stories. All of these experiences helped the owl to become wiser day by day.
Moral: Talk less and be more observant.
