FORMER executive secretary of Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State and one of the staunch supporters of the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr Taiwo Fatiregun, narrowly escaped death on Saturday when suspected political thugs attacked him in Ijebu-Jesa community.
Sunday Tribune gathered that the attack on Fatiregun occurred around 8.15 a.m. along Oju Odo area of Ijebu Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of the state
Eyewitnesses informed Sunday Tribune that the assailants, numbering eight, swooped on him and allegedly inflicted deep machete cuts on his lungs and other parts of his body.
He was said to have bled profusely before the hoodlums ran away from the scene of the incident.
Fatiregun, was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment by sympathiser at the scene when the bleeding became uncontrollable.

The eyewitnesses added that his attackers claimed he was being dealt with allegedly for supporting the governorship aspiration of a former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Moshood Adeoti.
Adeoti, was one of the gubernatorial contenders on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but who later defected to Action Democratic Party (ADP), where he clinched the party’s governorship ticket.
In his reaction to the attack, the media aide to Adeoti, Mr Kayode Agbaje, decried the development, describing it as barbaric and unwarranted.
Efforts to get the comment of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police command, Mrs Folasade Odoro, on the attack were unsuccessful as calls put through to her phone rang out without a response.
