The bandits terrorising parts of Plateau State struck again on Sunday, killing 10 people and injuring others in two separate communities, Dorowa Babuje and Jol, in the Barakin Ladi and Riyom local government areas, respectively.
The National President of the Berom Youth Moulder Association (BYM), Barrister Dalyop Solomon, who confirmed the attacks to the Nigerian Tribune, disclosed that nine persons were killed in Dorowa Babuje and one in Jol community.
According to him, the two communities were attacked simultaneously at about 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. He added that the bandits swooped on residents, shooting sporadically in different directions.
He stated that preliminary investigations into the latest attacks revealed that the bandits, acting in collaboration with some local elements in parts of the state, carried out the despicable act.
“We issued an early warning about the attack but received no response from security agencies. Our findings, however, show that the attack on innocent victims was led by a notorious bandit known as ‘Yellow,’ who had been exiled from Kaduna,” he said.

He also denied claims by the state chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) that some of its members were killed by locals, describing the allegation as a ruse to wreak havoc on defenceless communities.
Barrister Solomon said those allegedly killed may have died earlier, adding that they were natives who later became members of the association. He urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
However, the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, could not be reached for comment on the latest killings.
