The police on Thursday arraigned a quantity surveyor, Godfrey Jidefon, at a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kubwa, Abuja, for allegedly using forged documents.
Jidefon is charged with criminal breach of trust for using forged documents and cheating.
The Prosecution Counsel, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainant, one Grace Gyuse, reported the matter at Kubwa Police Station on Feb. 4.
Olanipekun said that the defendant fraudulently collected N920, 000 from the complainant for a plot of land situated at Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Layout sometime in April 2019.

He said the defendant used as genuine the forged documents for the said plot of land and converted the money to his personal use.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 311, 366 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Defence Counsel, Taiye Okoya, made a bail application for his client, urging the court to grant bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Muinat Oyekan, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two reasonable sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction in like sum.
Oyekan directed that one of the sureties must be a civil servant and adjourned the case until March 25 for hearing.
