In its quest to make Africa a tech continent and a pool of tech talent, SQI College of ICT has launched yet another branch in Challenge, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
The new Robotics and AI campus is to train students in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The campus is also equipped with state-of-the-art rapid prototyping equipment to enable local manufacturing for robotics and engineering in general. SQI sees this facility as bridging a major gap in the manufacturing environment for creators and innovators in robotics and engineering who currently depend on overseas services for most of their manufacturing needs. The facility is equipped with equipment for PCB printing and assembly, 3D printing (including FDM and SLA technologies), CNC machining, and more. SQI also unveils intriguing plans to extend access to its manufacturing facilities to creators across the country.
Present at the event were various dignitaries, including Hon. Oloye Suraj Tiamiyu, special adviser to the governor on education intervention, representing Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abdulwaheed Adelabu, Commissioner of Youth and Sport Hon. Wasilat Adegoke and the Senior Special Assistant on project delivery to the Governor of Oyo State, Hon. Abiodun Oluwaseun Laurel among others.
As part of the event, the Director of the institution, Adeyemi C. Aderinto conducted an exhibition tour of the facility showcasing the different equipment and capabilities the campus is equipped with. He explicitly explained how the software, electronics hardware, and mechanical hardware come together in automation and robotics systems, and how building all these subsystems is now a possibility at SQI.
Adeyemi also stressed the need for businesses and policymakers to be proactive in ensuring that the Robotics and ICT sector is given the highest attention because it is the present and future of global development. For more information go to https://edu.sqi.ng
