As political arguments rage on next speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has said that it will make its position known on the matter at an appropriate time.
In a communiqué at the end of its state executive committee meeting in Ilorin on Tuesday, the party enjoined members and all interested stakeholders to wait for party’s decision and avoid further
comments on the subject matter.
The communiqué read by the public relations officer of the APC in the state, Alhaji Folaranmi Tajudeen, stated that: “Exco reiterates its resolve to take its full right of playing the necessary leadership roles on all matters and champion such actions and activities that guarantee the fulfillment of all party’s campaign promises and covenants with the people of Kwara State.
The APC in the state has also resolved to be united, peaceful, supportive and loyal to the governor-elect, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
“For the purposes of unity, orderliness and clear direction, Exco resolves that party structures at all levels should henceforth provide the required leadership necessary for a party in government by ensuring inclusion of all stakeholders, leaders, elders and elected officials in critical decision making process through constitution of local government caucus in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution, ditto for state; inauguration of elders’ advisory committees at the local, senatorial and state levels which draw legitimacy from the state Exco’s resolution to be convened at the
instance of the chairman at each level.

“To avert proliferation of factional or sectional meetings, Exco, therefore, resolves to frown at any attempt by individuals or groups that is capable of derailing the incoming administration through statements, utterances and gatherings that are not authorized or known to the proper structures of the party. In addition, it advises the public to disregard all opinions not duly sanctioned by the party or the governor-elect.”
The communiqué added that, “as part of the conditions to guarantee all-inclusiveness, Exco resolves that all matters that affect the interest of all local and senatorial zones be properly coordinated by the structures at all levels for onward transmission to the state exco as resolutions from any such gatherings that disregard the structures shall not be recognized and accorded any seriousness by the party leadership.”
