It was a dream come true for promising artist, Seye Lawson, when he hosted many people to the unveiling of his state-of-the-art gallery and studio, in the heart of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, amidst cheers.
The newly unveiled studio tagged, “Seye Lawson Arts” at 224, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, displayed various imageries and expressions of beings, nature, and technology.
The unveiling was graced by dignitaries and lovers of art including Dr Otonye Ayodele of the University of Lagos and Mr Michael Olatunbosun of Splash FM, Ibadan.
According to Lawson, the initiative will spur him to contribute to the growth of the art industry and young art lovers.
“I feel fulfilled to actualise my desired dream as a professional artist. Though I have ventured into other businesses including farming, I have never been as fulfilled as coming back to my calling. This is a great success for me and I appreciate everyone, especially my wife, for her support in making this dream come true.
“I have my first contact with art at age 6 and fell in love with things I came across then. Subsequently, I developed the passion when I got to secondary school and the passion formed a shape when at the tertiary level because I studied Fine and Applied Arts at the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso. I am proud to be an artist. I have never regretted dropping everything that brings 90 percent of income to me for my passion for art and I also want to use this medium to nurture every interested young art lover in the country, especially in Oyo State with this platform,” he added.
