A member of the National Assembly representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South), has rolled out measures aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the Police nationwide.
Alli, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs and a member of several other committees, has donated a borehole to Mokola Divisional Police Station, along with a generating set and a 3.5 kVA inverter, solar panels, and other accessories to Sango Divisional Police Station.
The borehole is expected to provide a sustainable water source for the officers at the Mokola Police Station and its environs. It is no secret that many police stations in Nigeria are plagued by a lack of basic amenities, and clean water is not an exception.
The senator’s intervention will go a long way towards improving the living conditions of the police officers and their families.
On the other hand, the three solar inverters donated to Sango Police Station will ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
Many police stations in Nigeria rely on generators, which are not only expensive to maintain but also tend to break down frequently.
With the installation of the 3.5 kVA inverter and Solar panels, the station will be able to save costs and reduce its carbon footprint.
The senator’s gesture has been received with overwhelming admiration by the communities. Residents have praised his commitment to developing the community, and the police force has also commended him for his support.
It is not often that you see politicians partnering with the police force to ensure effective policing, and Senator Alli’s intervention is indeed a step in the right direction.
Many have also called on other political leaders to emulate the senator’s gesture and support the police force.
The role of the police in ensuring the safety and security of citizens cannot be overemphasised, and it is only fair that they are provided with the necessary support to carry out their duties effectively.
Alli’s partnership with the Nigeria Police to ensure welfare and effective policing is not only commendable but also inspiring.
His intervention at the Mokola and Sango Divisional Police Stations has gone a long way in improving the working conditions of the officers, and his commitment to developing the community should be emulated by other political leaders.
