The Okanlomo of Ibadanland and the former Senator representing Oyo South senatorial district, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi, has commended the staying power of the Nigerian Tribune as it has remained steady like seasoned hickory in spite of all odds.
Senator Akanbi in his tributes, which he personally signed and made available to the Press today, commended the paper for surviving even when others are gasping for breath.
He said it is praiseworthy that the oldest private Newspaper in Nigeria, the Nigerian Tribune still remains a go-to- source of credible information and a fount of resource material for academic work despite the fact that the industry is now saturated with media organisations whose priority is only pecuniary gains.

The Okanlomo of Ibadanland attributed the success story of the paper to the foresight of its founder, Chief Obafemi Awolowo who he described as “a man of an idea who has transcended his finite existence”.
He added that: “Chief Obafemi Awolowo was a stickler to the truth, a man of great refinement and panache who never traded anything for truth in his glorious lifetime. He built Nigerian Tribune on the solid pillars of truth which have remained the North Star guiding the direction of the newspaper till today.”
Senator Adesoji Akanbi, while congratulating the management and the staff of the Nigerian Tribune for keeping faith with the vision of the founding fathers, however, enjoined them not to rest on their oars, remain focused and hold tenaciously to the ennobling virtues that have continued to strengthen it over the years.
Senator Adesoji Akanbi averred “The delectable story of Tribune has further reinforced my acceptance of the maxim that truth is timeless”.
