The statement further said that the competition offers participating schools and students the opportunity to showcase academic excellence as it serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and analytical skills; encourage teamwork by helping students to develop leadership, collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

“It also offers the students to gain recognition, win prizes for their schools and establish themselves as centres of academic excellence.

“Some of the prizes from the 2024 edition included the O.B Lulu Briggs Prize (₦10 million): won by Federal Government Girl’s College, Abuloma; Claude Ake Prize (₦5 million):  won by Seacrest Preparatory School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State and the Boma Erekosima Prize (₦2.5 million):  won by Aladumo International School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State and another ₦1.5 million: won by Enitonna High School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“The Education Champions League (ECL) is a premier academic initiative designed to inspire young minds, promote literacy and foster intellectual competition among secondary school students. Since its inception, the competition has grown into one of the most recognised academic contests in Nigeria, empowering students and schools to strive for excellence.”
