In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing aviation safety and training, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has commissioned the aviation training centre located in a private training facility belonging to Prime Atlantic Safety Services (PASS).
PASS offers services in the areas of Safety, Survival, Firefighting, Emergency Response training, and Consultancy Services to various industries including the oil and gas, manufacturing, construction, and more.
The training centre, which had hitherto not included training of aviation personnel in its curriculum, has now extended its scope to aviation.
Commissioning the facility, Keyamo commended the training institution for advancing safety training within Nigeria’s aviation and maritime sectors, emphasising the importance of local expertise in safeguarding the nation’s airspace and waterways.
His words:” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is concerned about the growth of the aviation sector through intentional policies. As the government targets such growth, with locally developed capacity, the objective of sustainable partnership is being achieved.. So , we must continue to develop infrastructure at reasonable costs and save the much needed foreign exchange.”
While declaring that the government will explore options that will drive collaboration for maximum use of the facility by the industry regulator, Keyamo remarked: “The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority could ask the managers to use the training centre and bring in the required resource persons to drive indigenous capacity for many professionals in the sector.”
The minister who was accompanied by a high-level delegation including the managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku and other senior executives, highlighted the government’s dedication to supporting innovation in aviation safety and capacity building.
The minister and his team who had earlier went on a facility inspection of the training institution said to be the first of its kind in Nigeria and the West African region is located in Ipara, Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria.
The facilities toured by the minister and his team included advanced simulation centers designed for realistic emergency response and safety scenarios.

The visit provided the Minister and FAAN executives an opportunity to witness firsthand the innovative advancements and state-of-the-art technologies that PASS employs to deliver comprehensive safety training programs.
In her remarks, the Managing Director of PASS, Folake Soyanwo gave insights into the company’s background and mission, noting that the institution which has been operational since 2007 was founded with the support of a Danish partner.
According to Soyanwo, PASS’ courses adhere to rigorous international certifications, with efforts underway to secure certification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) which she said will bolster Nigeria’s reputation for excellence in safety training and compliance with global safety protocols.
