Kogi State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed rescuing two kidnapped worshippers from their abductors.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, disclosed this.
It was recalled that gunmen reportedly stormed a prayer session last week Friday at a remote mountain site in the Egbola area, along Agbaja Road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, and abducted two people.
The incident, it was gathered, occurred in the early hours of Friday.

Reacting to this development, the Police Spokesperson said, “The worshippers were kidnapped and rescued immediately by combined security forces. In the night, they went to the mountain to pray. So, the gunmen went and abducted them.
“When we got the information, the Police in collaboration with Vigilantes chased them into the bush. It got to a point that the pressure was too much and they abandoned their victims. The victims escaped from their abducted.”
Aya added that reports making the rounds that scores of worshippers were kidnapped were false and misleading, urging media organisations to always verify their information before going to press.
