At least two persons are now being quizzed by the Osun state police command for cloning and issuance of fake government tax receipts and tax clearance certificates to unsuspecting populace.
The Executive Chairman, Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS), Prince Adesola Adewumi who made this known on Sunday in Osogbo, assured that the arrested persons would be made to face the wrath of law to checkmate further unholy acts in the state.
He assured that, all revenue leakages in the state would be blocked explaining that, the two suspects met their waterloo during the agency’s organised statewide audit/enforcement exercise and had been handed over to the police to face the repercussions of their actions.
According to the release, “the exercise is a continuous one as the commitment and dedication of this exercise is to ensure adequate compliance to the rules of payment of taxes and levies as well as blocking of all avenues of revenue leakages in the state.”
He warned that anyone caught in this act will not be spared and will face the full wrath of the law and the agency is ready to pursue such cases until perpetrators get locked away in jail.
The statement, however, admonished faithful tax payers to be vigilant and not to panic but ensure they go to authorized channels such as all Banks, Tax stations MDAs, OIRS online platform, OIRS POS Marshals and obtain government receipts for every payment they make.
“The objective of the ongoing exercise is bringing all enemies of the state sabotaging the efforts of the government regarding revenue to book.”
