Two suspected kidnappers have met their death at the hands of police operatives in Delta State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said one of the suspects was lured to their hideout where they engaged the police in a shootout.
He said the suspects had been terrorizing Warri, Ekpan and the environs, prompting DPO Ekpan Police station, CSP Rimamchirika Musa Bulus, to go after the gang after obtaining credible intelligence on its operation.
Edafe said “One of the suspects was lured by the Police operatives into believing that he was discussing with a proposed buyer for one of the suspected stolen vehicles in their possession.
“The suspect not knowing what was coming, led the Police to their hideout at Ohorhe community along Sapele Effurun.
“Upon arrival at the hideout, the suspects, on sighting and noticing that they have been rounded by the Police, engaged them in a serious gun duel.
“In the ensuing gun duel, two of the suspects were fatally wounded while others escaped.
“The suspects gave up the ghost before they could get to the hospital.”
According to the police image maker, exhibits recovered from the hideout of the hoodlums included: a locally-made single-barrel rifle, one locally-made cut-to-size pistol, three expended cartridges, seven live cartridges and one native Amulet.
