Operatives of the Nigeria Police, A Division, Warri Area Command, have arrested a 50-year-old drug dealer, Lucky Okpoko, in Warri, Delta State with 654 wraps of various illicit drugs.
This is just as police operatives attached to Eagle Net Special Squad rescued a kidnap victim, Mr James Emmanuel, at Usiefurun community by railway bridge of Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement, revealed that the drug dealer, Okpoko, was nabbed on April 8 at about 5:00 p.m at a black spot within Okandeji Street, Warri.
Okpoko was allegedly caught red-handed with 545 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 102 wraps of skunk also known as SK and seven wraps of readymade weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
Speaking on the rescued kidnap victim, DSP Edafe said operatives of the police special squad responded to a distress call at midnight of April 10 and engaged the hoodlums who eventually caved in and abandoned their victim.
Edafe further disclosed that besides the victim, Mr Emmanuel, being rescued, his snatched white colour Toyota Venza Jeep, with REG. NO.GBJ 456 FD was also recovered from the hoodlums who fled into the woods with gunshot injuries.
While adding that police were on the trail of the accomplices of Okpoko and fleeing kidnap suspects, he said the Commissioner of Police has appealed to members of the public to continue to give credible information that will help in bringing criminals to book with the assurances of confidentiality.
