The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 30 individuals suspected to be cultists during an alleged initiation procession in the Isara Remo area of Ogun State.

The suspects were arrested on Thursday by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), according to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.

Their arrest followed credible intelligence indicating that a group of people had converged at an uncompleted building in the town, where they were allegedly consuming alcohol, chanting, and carrying out initiation activities.

The Commander of the VCRU reportedly acted swiftly on the information, storming the location with a combined team, dispersing the gathering, and arresting the suspects in a well-coordinated tactical operation.

Items recovered from the scene included four vehicles, one jackknife, one local drum, one rattle (sekere), and several bottles allegedly used for alcohol consumption during the illegal assembly.
