Oyo police arraign two siblings for stealing, assault, malicious damage, others

The Oyo State Police Command, on Thursday, arraigned two siblings, Dauda Abimbara, 65 years and Musa Abimbara, 53 years before a Magistrate court sitting in Oyo town, Oyo State, on a five-count charge.

At the sitting presided over by Chief Magistrate, N.O. Abdulsalam, the two siblings were accused of conspiracy, assault, stealing, malicious damage.

In the charge number, M1/86C/2021 between the Oyo Commissioner and Dauda and Musa Abimbara, the two defendants and others at large were accused of assault, stealing and destruction of properties at Elere area of Oyo town.

In addition, the two siblings were accused of threatening and assaulting one Jimoh Kabiru.

The third count was that both Dauda and Musa Abimbara stole three shovels, a moulding block machine worth N250,000 belonging to Jimoh Kabiru.

With prosecuting counsel, Olorunkooba-Jimoh B.K present in court, the defendants were also accused of stealing five bags of cement worth N16,000 and destroying registered beacons worth N250,000 belonging to Olawoyin Yinusa.

The defendants pleaded not guilty with their counsel praying bail for his clients.

The prosecuting counsel, Olorunkooba-Jimoh, did not oppose the defendants’ bail application.

The presiding magistrate, Abdulsalam, subsequently admitted the defendants to bail of N300,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties were also asked to be reliable persons with landed property, tax clearance, residents in the Oyo district and should attach their passport and identity card to perfect their bail application.

The matter was subsequently adjourned till 26th October for hearing.
