Gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori, has called on Nigerians to pray for the victims of the Oyo school children abduction, saying prayer remains important in addressing the country’s security challenges.

Speaking about the incident, Alaseyori responded to concerns from some Nigerians who believe prayers are no longer effective in tackling insecurity.

“So many people are saying the prayer they are praying is not working, but believe me, prayers are working. Prayers are working,” she said.

According to the singer, the Oyo schoolchildren abduction should not be viewed through a political lens.

She urged citizens to focus on supporting the victims, their families, security personnel, and government officials through prayers.

“From the first person, from the President to the last person in this country, we all need prayers,” she said.

Alaseyori also defended the efforts of the government in addressing security issues, stating that public officials are carrying out their responsibilities.

“You can’t say that the President or the Vice President are not doing what they have to do. They are working. You can’t say they are not working.”

The gospel singer said security operatives involved in rescue missions also need spiritual support as they work to secure the release of abducted victims.

“Even the security personnel, they might be close to where those children are to rescue them and then get jazzed not to see them. That’s the place of prayer.”

She described the abducted victims as people with families and loved ones, appealing to Nigerians not to allow political interests to influence their reactions to the situation.

“But right now, let’s pray for our nation, Nigeria. Every individual in your houses, you need to pray for these children,” she said.

Alaseyori further encouraged Nigerians to pray for soldiers and other security personnel who risk their lives during rescue operations.

She concluded by saying that solving Nigeria’s challenges requires collective effort and that responsibility should not be placed on one individual alone.
