AHEAD of the Thursday’s rerun governorship election in Osun State, the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, (South-West), Dr Eddy Olafeso on Wednesday declared that the Party would be victorious at the poll despite all the odds being created by both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday ahead of the poll, Dr Oyefeso disclosed the party leadership had met all those that mattered in the exercise including the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and had given their words to stand by the party in the battle.
Dr Oyefeso stated that more security personnel have been deployed to the state while several notable members of the PDP including Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji and Alhaji Diekola among others have been arrested and framed up by the Police for buying Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the poll.
According to him, “the APC has imported thugs to Osun State with a view to intimidate, harass and assault PDP leaders and voters in the units where the election will take place.

“Billions of Naira have been ferried to Osogbo by the APC to purchase votes and compromise the electoral process while the card readers designated for use in the affected units have already been preloaded, this is to give an upstart advantage to APC.
“Also, squadrons of APC ballot hijacking team have already been deployed across the units to disrupt polls while detachments of DSS operatives deployed directly from Abuja harassing and assaulting our party leaders and members in those units, the residence of one of our party leaders in Orolu, Alhaji Asifa Olarinde had been riddled with bullets and damaged”.
While assuring that the party would be victorious at the poll despite all the odds before it, Olafeso said, “we have been discussing with many people in the state on the need to support us and they have been promising us but we believe that victory is in the hands of God”.
“They too knew that they have lost this election and that we won, the forces they are fighting against is far, far ahead of them, Osun people have spoken since on Saturday, both the APC and the INEC are wasting their time”.
