Few minutes after the Committee saddled with responsibility of repositioning Osun State All Progressive Congress (APC) led by former minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole on Friday submitted its report to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, the serving minister charged the party to set up an implementation Committee which shall review the recommendations and take appropriate step to implementing the recommendations without much ado.
The minister, who gave the charge after the committee recommended that he remains the leader of the party in line with the constitution of the party and must maintain a large heart and big pocket to galvanize the party said, “Once the recommendations are implemented, we would have resolved to work together as a family to sustain the progress, peace and development of APC in Osun State.
“As a party, we shall continue to harness our resources to take care of the interest of the youth, women and the generality of the party members. We shall empower them to find useful expressions for their innate talents, skills and competencies so that they can contribute their quota to the development of the party, the State and Nigeria at large.
“WeĀ owe a debt of gratitude to the chairman and members of this Committee for sacrificing their time and resources to serve APC at this critical moment in our history.
“We also appreciate the Igbimo Agba, led by our Baba, Pa Akinwumi for their encouragement and support all the way. We thank the leadership of the party, led by Sooko Tajudeen Lawal for their courage to do the wishes of the majority of the party members at all times”.
“WeĀ thank the Committee chairman and his members for their resilience, humility, loyalty and patriotism. We appreciate the industry and integrity that informed the submission of this report. We assure you all that we shall implement the recommendations of this committee in a manner that will indeed help to reposition the party, which is the main objective of setting up the committee in the first instance.”
“Once again, I thank the committee chairman and his team for their services to APC and our cherished party members.”
Earlier, while rolling out what responsible for failure of the party in the state during the presentation of the report in Osogbo, Professor Adewole listed them as,: “disconnection between the government and the govern, poor leadership, irregular payment of salaries and pensions, poor reward system, imposition by party leaders, mismanagement of the event following the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke and the consequent nomination of a candidate for the Osun West Senatorial by-election in 2017.
“indiscipline and anti party activities, agitation of Osun West agenda known as West Lokan, lack of commitment by party leaders and members, undue desire to grab money allocated to wards and units by leaders, ineffective use of the media to project achievements of the governor, inadequate preparation for election, poor election management and insecurity.”
The former minister thereafter, gave parts of the recommendations to solve the problems as :; “curbing part indiscipline, paving way for party primary election; there is no need for us to collect form money when we have anointed candidates, money should be returned to those who purchased forms.”
“AtĀ the end of every election, we must reconcile those who lost out. There should be standing committees to deal with reconciliation after every election, negotiating with interest groups to have larger support base, charging public elected officialsĀ specific levies or amount to fund the party on a monthly or annual basis in line with the constitution of the party. “
“That, the immediate past governor and minister of Marine and Blue economy, Adegboyega Oyetola remains the leader of party in line with the constitution of the party and must maintain a large heart and big pocket to galvanize the party.Ā
