That he stressed that “the two most important offices of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Head of Service (HOS) are held by Christians” was a futile attempt to justify a flaw; Professor Osinbajo should be informed that, as things stand in Nigeria today, the office with the greatest clout is that of the Chief of Army Staff that is held by a Northern Muslim not the office of the Chief of Defence Staff that is a paper tiger held by a Yoruba Christian. The SGF, Boss Mustapha, cannot suspend the republic if crisis engulfs Nigeria, but General Yusuf Buratai is just poised to do that. Professor Osinbajo should also be told that when the SGF was recommend for this office, President Muhammadu Buhari and everyone else thought he was Alhaji Boss Mustapha but, oh, he was a Christian. Thus, it was not like the Presidency was looking for a Christian/Muslim parity, no, it was a case of mistaken identity just like it was when everyone thought Hon. Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, was a Muslim. Apparently, the Vice President does not understand the way Northern Muslims play their politics; he should wonder about the meaning of the term “taqiyya.”
Now, President Buhari doing his kind of arithmetic and coming up with a strange conclusion that implies that the Fulanis have not done enough killings yet in Benue State. Nigeria is wretched as it is.
