Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom of Benue State yesterday inaugurated a 46 man State Transition Committee.
Governor Ortom stated that the committee was expected to provide further impetus for his administration to re-organize and re-energize the machinery of government in order to consolidate on the gains it had achieved in its first tenure.
The committee is headed by the former Senate President, Dr Iyourchia Ayu while the Secretary of the committee is Professor Tony Ijohor.
The terms of reference are; to evaluate the number, composition and membership of the Statutory Commissions in the State and also review the Benue State Development Plan: “Our Collective Vision for a New Benue”.
To suggest alternative ways of funding development projects and payment of Arrears of Salaries, Pensions and Gratuity of Public Servants in the State as well as suggest ways of enhancing revenue generation in the State.

To review existing youth development programmes and suggest ways of assisting the development of youths of the State and ways of productively engaging the youth and women in the State.
That the committee should also proffer suggestions that could afford farmers in the State to add value to their farm produce and suggest ways of giving the Benue people new orientation and social values.
“it is our expectation that members of the Committee are aware of the sensitivity of their assignment in providing a roadmap for our Government to operate in its Second Term in office. We are therefore confident that you will live up to expectations by fully giving your time and energy in this all-important”, Ortom said
