Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, has discharged the principal of Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinle, Mrs Rachael Alamu, who was among the 44 kidnapped victims rescued by joint security operatives on Friday.

Alamu was discharged late on Tuesday after being certified medically fit to return home. She was handed over to her husband, Professor Wole Alamu.

A hospital source confirmed to our correspondent that the rescued victim underwent a series of medical examinations before she was eventually discharged.

The source added that other rescued victims are expected to be discharged after the authorities ascertain their level of fitness.

According to the source, “It is true that Mrs Alamu has been discharged after being certified medically fit to reunite with her family.

“Her husband, Prof Wole Alamu, came around last night to take her home. More rescued victims will be discharged today (Wednesday).

“During the ward rounds conducted today, the doctors examined those still on admission to ascertain their level of fitness.”

Nigerian Tribune reports that 25 of the 39 pupils who were admitted to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, have been discharged.

It was also reported that one of the pupils was diagnosed with a hole in the heart, but the hospital management said there is no cause for panic.

Meanwhile, the parents and families of the pupils and teachers yet to be discharged are keeping vigil at the hospital.

Some of them slept in open spaces in anticipation of being called for the discharge of their loved ones.
